Development Consultant

Daren Thomas, is a 30-year fundraising veteran with experience spanning education, the arts, and healthcare. He began his career at Appalachian State University. He later led development for Johns Hopkins University’s Biomedical Engineering program, the American Red Cross’s 50th Anniversary Campaign, and the National Geographic Society’s major gifts program. As Director of Leadership Giving at Washington Performing Arts, Daren returned to his passion for the arts before founding his own consulting firm, which serves small and mid-sized nonprofits, including The Focus Foundation. A proud DC resident, he has held leadership roles with Augustana Lutheran Church, N Street Village, Sitar Arts Center, and Transformer DC.
